South India has been witnessing good rainfall for the past few days. The southern interiors of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Mahe have been receiving heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
Many northeastern states, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Andhra Pradesh's coast, and Andhra Pradesh also witnessed light showers yesterday.
The South Peninsula (Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka), according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), is expected to see strong rainfall activity for the next three days before subsiding.
While this is going on, it's expected that starting on August 6, rainfall activity will increase over Gujarat, East Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. The monsoon trough is located south of where it usually is. Over the next 4-5 days, it will stay that way. Around August 7, a low-pressure area is predicted to emerge over and adjacent to the west-central Bay of Bengal.
According to the MeT Department, Rayalaseema is expected to begin on August 5 and affect coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe until August 8. There may be isolated heavy falls, thunderstorms, or lightning. On August 5 and 6, the same weather was present in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
On August 5, Mahe and ghat parts of Tamil Nadu will get isolated very heavy rainfall, followed by Telangana on August 8 and coastal and south interior Karnataka on August 6.
Additionally, rainfall is expected across central and western India. "Fairly widespread/widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh during 04–08; Vidarbha and Saurashtra & Kutch during 06–08; Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat Region, Konkan & Goa during 04–08 August, 2022," the IMD stated in its weather bulletin.
Between August 5 and August 8, Chhattisgarh is also anticipated to have isolated to scattered very heavy rainfall. On August 8, the same weather conditions are expected in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Gujarat State, as well as in Madhya Maharashtra, the Konkan, and Goa.
Over the next few days, rain is also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and a few locations in Rajasthan.
The meteorological service forecasted thunderstorms or lightning along with heavy rain for northeastern states like Sikkim, Jharkhand, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 5; over Jharkhand on August 6 and 7; over Odisha on August 5–8; over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on August 4–8; and over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on August 4–6, as well as over Assam and Meghalaya on August 4–5, 2022.
