The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that the circumstances are favorable for the southwest monsoon to proceed further. During the next 2-3 days, the southwest monsoon is expected to move into some portions of the central Arabian Sea, the remaining parts of Kerala, some areas of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and north-eastern states.
Widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms/lightning is expected in many states due to the influence of monsoonal westerly winds from the Arabian Sea over southern peninsular India in lower and middle tropospheric levels, a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea off north Kerala-Karnataka coast, and a trough from this cyclonic circulation to Southwest Bay of Bengal at lower tropospheric levels.
Rainfall is forecast in Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next five days.
On May 31, isolated heavy rainfall is forecast for Kerala, Mahe, and Tamil Nadu, while rain is forecast for coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka on June 2 and 3.
Across the next 5 days, squally weather (winds of 40-50 km/h gusting to 60 km/h) is highly possible over the southwest Arabian Sea; rain is expected on June 2 and 3 in the Lakshadweep area, coastal Kerala, Comorin area, and the Gulf of Mannar.
According to the weather service, fishermen are advised not to go into these locations. Under the influence of an east-west trough from northwest Rajasthan to north Bangladesh and southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to northeast India at lower tropospheric levels, widespread rainfall is forecast over northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.
Over the next five days, isolated rains, thunderstorms/lightning, and gusty winds are expected across Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal.
Heavy rain is forecast in Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya from May 31 to June 4. Rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh from June 1 to 4. According to the IMD's latest report, no major heat waves are expected in the following five days.

On Monday, torrential rain and thunderstorms wreaked havoc in Delhi-NCR after a sudden change of weather in the evening. The storm in Delhi is expected to reach speeds of 100 kilometers per hour. The temperature in Delhi has dropped as a result of the rainfall. The lowest temperature was 27.8 degrees Celsius, while the highest was 41 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather service, the Western Disturbance is expected to arrive in the Western Himalayas in three days and will be restricted to the highlands. Rain and thundershowers are possible in several regions in the hills of north India, including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. This weather activity will not be particularly intense, but it will last at least two to three days.
