IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall or Thunderstorm in These States During Next 3-4 Days

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rainfall warning for a number of states, including Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. The IMD stated that reasonably widespread to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is expected over several states till July 23 in a weather bulletin.

Till July 23, the IMD expects light to moderate rain to fall fairly widely to widely, with isolated heavy falls, thunderstorms, and lightning over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

For the following five days, it has also been predicted that West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura would likely have widespread mild to moderate rainfall with heavy falls.

The Met department issued a statement saying that over the next five days, thunderstorms and lightning are extremely likely to occur over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep.

On July 20, isolated, extremely heavy falls were also predicted to occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Similar weather patterns will be present in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya through July 21.

Over the next five days, the IMD warned that scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is quite likely to occur over Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. On July 21 and 22, a few isolated areas in East Madhya Pradesh may see very heavy rainfall.

Over the next few days, rainfall is anticipated in Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh Yanam, and Telangana.
