According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is predicted over many NE states during the next few days. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are expected to persist throughout Central and West India.
Heavy Rain Warning:
Isolated severe rainfall is expected across Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim on April 3rd; Assam-Meghalaya on March 31st, 02nd, and 03rd; and Arunachal Pradesh from March 31st to April 3rd.
Light to moderate isolated/scattered rainfall is expected over Coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep on the 30th and 31st of March; and across Kerala-Mahe, Tamilnadu-Puducherry-Karaikal, and South Interior Karnataka during the next 5 days.
Isolated thunderstorm/lightning activity is also very likely across Lakshadweep on March 30th, Tamilnadu-Puducherry-Karaikal on March 31st, and Kerala & Mahe throughout the next 5 days.
Heatwave Warning:
Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions is expected to persist in most parts of West Rajasthan on March 31st, as well as in certain parts of West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and West Madhya Pradesh during the weekend.
Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions in isolated pockets over south Haryana & Delhi on 31st March and 1st April.
It is predicted to reduce in spatial and intensity over these areas between the 1st and 3rd of April, with heatwave conditions in localized pockets over these locations throughout the same time period.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) projected a severe heatwave today for Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. In its most recent advisory, the meteorological department projected isolated heatwave conditions over eastern Uttar Pradesh, central Madhya Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and the interior areas of Odisha.
"The lack of a meteorological system, along with the presence of an anti-cyclone over Rajasthan and neighboring Pakistan, had resulted in hot winds blowing throughout North and Central India. March will conclude on a hotter note, with no relief until the beginning of April "said Mahesh Palawat, Skymet Weather's vice president of Meteorology and Climate Change.
