For the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heavy rain in parts of North-east India and isolated heatwave conditions in other parts of the country. Heavy rain is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Sikkim, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, according to the IMD.

IMD tweeted, "Isolated heavy rainfall over Assam-Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh over the next 5 days; over Nagaland, Manipur on 01 April, and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim on Sunday and Monday (3 and 4 April)."

On Friday, Sunday, and Monday, it predicted isolated very heavy rainfall over Assam-Meghalaya, as well as on Sunday and Monday in Arunachal Pradesh.

Heatwave conditions are expected in some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan over the next five days, according to the IMD.

On Friday and Saturday, it predicted a heatwave in Himachal Pradesh, south Haryana, Delhi, southwest Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Vidarbha (Maharashtra), Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand (1 April and 2 April).

"Isolated heatwave conditions over Telangana on Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3, 2022, and over East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra today, April 1, 2022," the statement said.

During the summer, the maximum heat zone is generally found over Gujarat, interior Maharashtra, Telangana, and Odisha in lower central India.

However, daytime mercury levels were not only above average in these regions in March 2022, but also in locations that are typically cooler at this time of year- including, to many people's surprise, the Western Himalayan Region.

Several weather stations, including Delhi, Chandrapur, Jammu, Dharamsala, Patiala, Dehradun, Gwalior, Kota, and Pune, also recorded record-breaking daytime temperatures for March over the last 31 days.

Stay hydrated & drink plenty of fluids to protect yourself from heatwaves!!
