The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heatwave warning for the Gujarat region as well as the Saurashtra-Kutch region from March 25-28. It has also issued rainfall warnings for northeast and south peninsular India during the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also possible across Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.
Rainfall Predictions
Light to moderate isolated/scattered rainfall is expected across Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Karnataka during the next 5 days, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Rayalaseema over the next 2 days.
Isolated thunderstorm/lightning activity is also very likely over Kerala and Mahe during the next five days, and over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Karnataka over the next two days. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka today.
During the next 5 days, light to moderate scattered, fairly widespread rainfall is expected across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Isolated thunderstorms/lightning/gusty winds are quite probable across Northeast India between March 24 and March 26, and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on March 24.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 25-26th of March.
Heatwave Forecasts
Heat Wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets across Saurashtra-Kutch during 25-28 March and over Gujarat Region during 26-28 March.
The IMD also predicted that maximum temperatures will climb gradually by 2-30 degrees Celsius throughout Maharashtra during the next three days, with no major change after that.
No significant change in maximum temperatures is very likely over the rest of the parts of the country during the next 4-5 days.
Snowfall Predictions
According to the IMD, isolated rainfall or snowfall is very likely today over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttrakhand due to the influence of the Western Disturbance.
