Weather Update: According to an alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday, the lowest temperature across Uttar Pradesh is expected to drop by an average of four degrees Celsius as isolated areas encounter rainfall, particularly in west and central UP.
"Weather conditions caused by recent snowfall in the mountains will enable cold wave to sweep through the northern parts of the country. In the next 48 hours, average temperatures are expected to drop between 3 to 5 degrees," according to the IMD alert.
Across the state, the above mentioned conditions will be accompanied by heavy fog, particularly in the morning. "The weather will change across Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. We have warned the district authorities and recommended that people make arrangements like night shelters and bonfires," said JP Gupta, director of the state MeT department.
Meanwhile, according to MET data, the minimum temperature in Lucknow remained near 14 degrees Celsius, which is 5 degrees above normal, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 27.4 degrees, which is 2 degrees above normal.
The city experienced fog in the morning, but it cleared up during the day, which was a pleasant relief. The lowest temperature in Uttar Pradesh was reported at Etawah, where the mercury dropped to 7 degrees, 2 degrees below normal. Jhansi recorded the highest day temperature in UP, with the mercury reaching 29 degrees throughout the day, 1.4 degrees higher than normal.
