Till September 10, the southern state of Kerala is expected to receive irregular torrential rain, according to the India Meteorological Department. On Thursday, Thiruvonam Day, an orange alert was issued for Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. While under yellow alert are Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad.
In preparation for the expected heavy rain, IMD on Wednesday issued a red alert for Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. On Wednesday, an orange alert was issued for the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode.
A low-pressure region was expected to form in the Bay of Bengal by Wednesday and could later intensify, according to IMD. In Kerala as well, the low pressure might bring about heavy rain.
IMD has not, however, confirmed whether the low pressure would develop into a cyclone.
Fishermen must avoid the sea in Kerala and Lakshadweep till September 9 and along the coast of Karnataka until September 10. The coast of Odisha has been predicted to receive a low-pressure system.
On Tuesday, the administration shut down every school in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram. Heavy rains have been warned to be expected for those who live in hilly areas.
Additionally, the respective district collectors have not permitted the Incident Response System officials to leave without their consent.
In the wake of severe rain and flash floods in the majority of the state on Saturday, IMD issued a yellow advisory for heavy rainfall over the next two days in 10 districts in Himachal Pradesh. For 23 districts in Odisha on September 8 and 9, IMD issued yellow alerts with widespread rainfall activity.
Bangalore Weather Update:
After getting significant rain over the previous three days, Bengaluru has once again been flooded. The situation is expected to stay the same because heavy to very heavy rains has been forecast for Silicon City and other areas of Karnataka through September 9.
Parts of Bengaluru have declared a holiday for both schools and high schools as the city is still being pummelling by torrential rain. Bengaluru is still underwater in many areas.
It hasn't rained this much in Bengaluru in fifty years. 162 lakes reached their full capacity as a result of the intense rain.
Bellandur and Varthur, two overflowing lakes, have submerged residential neighborhoods close to the lake.
Mumbai Weather Update:
For the next 48 hours, Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to have light to moderate rain, according to the Indian Meteorological Department. There could possibly be thundershowers, according to the weather service.
They predicted that the temperature would range between 26 and 31 degrees Celsius.
Sushma Nair, an official with the IMD, had previously informed FPJ that it was possible for new weather systems to form this week and bring light to moderate showers to Maharashtra's west coast, including the city and its suburbs.
Long-term observations, according to Nair, point to greater rainfall in September than the city experienced in August.
