IMD Issues Rainfall & Snowfall Alert for These States; UP to Witness Extreme Cold Day Conditions

More rains are expected in certain states over the next few days as a result of a new western disturbance, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its bulletin today.

A new Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation are expected to impact Northwest India from the night of February 8th, according to the weather agency. 

Furthermore, extreme cold day conditions are expected to persist in Uttar Pradesh for the next two days. Check out full forecast here: 

Rainfall Alert 

  • Tomorrow and day after, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected throughout the Western Himalayan Region (Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand).

  • On 9 February, there will be widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and isolated rainfall over East Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan.

  • On February 9th, an isolated hailstorm is possible over West Uttar Pradesh.

  • On 9th and 10th of February, isolated to scattered rainfall is expected across West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, and north Odisha.

Cold Day Warning 

Cold Day to Severe Cold Day Conditions are extremely probable in isolated pockets across East Uttar Pradesh over the next 48 hours; cold day over West Uttar Pradesh for the next 24 hours and thereafter subside. 

Dense fog Alert 

Dense fog is expected in areas of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura for the next two days, as well as across Odisha on February 9. 

Delhi Weather Forecast 

  • The weather service predicts partly cloudy sky with mist and shallow fog on Tuesday morning, with a possibility of light rain and drizzle later in the day.

  • Furthermore, the maximum and lowest temperatures are forecast to be about 27 and 11 degrees Celsius, respectively.

  • On Wednesday, it is also expected to rain or thundershowers with strong gusty gusts.

  • On Sunday, the maximum temperature in the city was 24.2 degrees Celsius, one degree more than the season's average, while the minimum temperature was 5.4 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.
