A yellow alert has been announced for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 KMPH in isolated areas of the state's west.
Scientist R Balasubramanian, the director of IMD Bhopal Office, informed that two western disturbances in the form of cyclonic circulations were lying over south and north Pakistan, pumping moisture from a trough stretching from the Maldives to central Maharashtra into Madhya Pradesh, causing showers and harsh weather.
He expects such weather to continue for four more days over the state. Since 8.30 a.m., the Berasia area in Bhopal district has received 33.0 mm (more than 3 cm) of rain, according to the IMD. According to senior meteorologist Ashfaq Husain of IMD's Bhopal centre, the Khargone area received 25 mm of rain between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.
It was reported that drizzles fell in Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Satna, Khandwa, Guna, and Damoh, among other places. On Sunday, a violent hailstorm accompanied by torrential rains slammed Himachal Pradesh's capital city, decreasing visibility and interrupting routine traffic.
The local meteorological station has also issued an orange warning for severe rains, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail storms on May 1 and 2, which could cause damage to standing crops, fruit plants, and new plantings. The MeT office forecasted mild to moderate rainfall in several parts of the state on May 2 and 3, as a new western disturbance is expected to affect northwest India beginning May 1 night.
Light rain fell in parts of Delhi on Sunday, lowering the maximum temperature to 28.7 degrees Celsius, 10 degrees below the season's average, according to the India Meteorological Department. The Safdarjung observatory of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded 0.3 mm of rain, while those at Palam and Lodhi Road observed traces between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
The national capital experienced a lowest temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius, which was slightly lower than the season's average. According to the IMD, the relative humidity ranged between 71% and 56%. The meteorological service predicts largely cloudy sky on Monday, with very light rain and thundershowers and strong winds gusting up to 25-35 km per hour.
The highest and minimum temperatures are expected to be approximately 28 and 21 degrees Celsius, respectively, according to the IMD. The minimum temperature on Saturday was 22.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was 33.1 degrees.
