IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning in These Areas Till 10 April

According to the IMD forecast, heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh over the next 5 days, Assam-Meghalaya over the next 8-10 April, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim over the next 6-8 April 2022.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted the continuation of a severe heatwave and heavy rainfall in north-western and north-eastern India, respectively, on Wednesday. According to the IMD, widespread rainfall with thunderstorms/lightning is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya in the next five days.

During the next five days, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also likely to experience isolated rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms/lightning.

According to the IMD forecast, heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh over the next 5 days, Assam-Meghalaya over the next 8-10 April, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim over the next 6-8 April 2022.

According to the IMD, light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms/lightning is very likely to occur over Kerala-Mahe, Tamilnadu-Puducherry-Karaikal, Coastal, and South Interior Karnataka over the next 5 days due to the influence of a trough over South Peninsular India.

North Interior Karnataka (6-8 April), Coastal Andhra Pradesh (6, 9, 10 April), and Telangana (6 April) will also see scattered rainfall with thunderstorms/lightning.

Cyclonic Wind Warning

According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation exists over the South Andaman Sea and its surroundings, extending up to the mid-tropospheric level. A Low-Pressure Area is expected to form over the Southeast Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours as a result of its influence, according to the official statement.

Heatwave Prediction

The weather service forecasted a 2-3°C drop in maximum temperatures in Gujarat over the next three days. Maximum temperatures in parts of Northwest and Central India, on the other hand, will rise by 2°C over the next three days.

Aside from that, the IMD stated that severe heatwave conditions will persist in the majority of the country. During the next five days, West Rajasthan will experience severe weather.

In the next five days, East Rajasthan will face a similar situation.

According to the IMD, South Haryana-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh will experience severe heatwave conditions over the next five days.

During the next five days, severe heatwave conditions will continue in Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Bihar. During the next 2-3 days, Madhya Maharashtra and Jammu divisions will experience severe heat.

Severe heatwave conditions are expected in Jharkhand (6-8 April), south Punjab (7-10 April), and Chhattisgarh (9-10 April).

A state-wise rise in maximum temperature was observed from 27 March:

  • West Rajasthan- 5 to 8 points above average

  • East Rajasthan- 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal

  • West Madhya Pradesh- 5 to 7 points above average

  • East Madhya Pradesh- 5 to 7 points above average

  • Western Himalayan Region- 6 to 9 degrees Celsius above norma

  • Gujarat- +2 to 4 degrees Celsius in most dates, with 1-2 degrees Celsius above normal on others.

  • South Haryana and the Delhi NCR, West Uttar Pradesh, and Southeast Uttar Pradesh- 4 to 9 above normal

  • Jharkhand- 4 to 7 points above average

  • Bihar- 4 to 6 points above average
