A Western Disturbance lies as a cyclonic circulation between 3.1 km & 3.6 km above mean sea level over northeast Afghanistan and neighbourhood which is likely to cause fairly widespread to widespread rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region and isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over adjoining plains of northwest India during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter. Isolated hailstorm also likely over Western Himalayan region during the next 24 hours, says the weather forecast of IMD in its morning bulletin.
Heavy Rain to Lash over North Eastern Region
As per reports, due to the convergence of strong moist winds from the Bay of Bengal, Northeast India (Arunachal o Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura) and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim are very likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thundershowers during next 7 days with varying intensity.
Adjoining parts of eastern states (Bihar and West Bengal) are also likely to experience similar weather on a few days during this period. Isolated heavy rainfall, thundersqualls & hailstorms are also very likely over these regions during the same period.
On the other hand, maximum temperatures in the range of 40-42°C are likely to prevail over parts of Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka during next 2-3 days.
As per yesterday’s reports, rain/thundershowers observed at most places over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh; at many places over Himachal Pradesh; at isolated places over Punjab, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Jharkhand and North Interior Karnataka. Rainfall recorded (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday) (1 cm or more):- Batote-2; Kupwara, Banihal, Baderwah, Katra and Manali-1 each.
Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Assam& Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Saurashtra & Kutch and Konkan & Goa while minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over West Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.
