The application process will be open until March 31, 2022, and students with outstanding academic records will be considered for scholarships from IIT Madras. IIT Madras has launched a nine-area International Interdisciplinary Master's Program (I2MP). The two-year programmes allow international students from any engineering background to join IIT Madras.
The institute's goal is to give students academic flexibility so that they can learn and work in a global engineering and technology platform.
The application period will last until March 31, 2022. IIT Madras will award scholarships to students with outstanding academic records.
Energy systems, robotics, quantum science and technology, computational engineering, advanced materials and nanotechnology, data science, cyber-physical systems, complex systems and dynamics, and biomedical engineering are among the nine interdisciplinary areas covered by the I2MP degrees. International students can also take courses in Indian culture. A dedicated research skills course will also prepare them for master's thesis work.
"Faculty have carefully chosen courses that will take a competent undergraduate student from almost any field of engineering and turn them into a strong candidate in an interdisciplinary field. This is an excellent opportunity for students, who are frequently restricted to traditional engineering disciplines, to broaden their knowledge of contemporary areas of expertise." Professor Prathap Haridoss, dean of academic courses, expressed his thoughts.
International students interested in traditional departmental programmes can apply to any of IIT Madras' 16 departments for Master's programmes.
Eligibility Criteria:
Students should choose an interdisciplinary field that complements their undergraduate degree and their personal interests and apply accordingly. IIT Madras master's degrees require a four-year undergraduate degree and demonstrated English proficiency.
International candidates who will be eligible to receive a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or a Master's degree in Science by July 2022 are eligible to apply for admission to the I2MP programme this year.
