The Cooperative –Cum- Retailers Fertiliser Sales Point Training and Meeting Programme was attended by Sunil Kumar, SMM. IFFCO, NE, Mr J.S.R Syiemlieh, Chief Executive Officer (MECOFED), Anuj Kotoky, Manager (ASD), Niraj Roy , Asst. Field Manager, Guwahati, Hamsya Chen, NCUI; Lakhi Madhab Gogoi, ITGI, Alongber Basumatary, AGT.
A total of 70 participants were present in the meeting consisting of farmers, retailers, and representatives of several societies viz., Lyngiong Service Coop. Society Ltd, Mawthuwan Service Coop. Society Ltd., Laitkroh Service Coop. Society Ltd., Kynjoh Multipurpose Coop. Society Ltd., Syiemlieh Multipurpose Coop. Society Ltd., Pyngkya Multipurpose Coop. Society Ltd.
The Govt. of Meghalaya has allowed for conventional fertiliser marketing in the state. In the wake of this, there is a need for knowledge transfer about different kinds of fertilisers, their benefits, and how to utilise these products. There is a need for retailers and those societies willing to do fertilizers business to know about the prospects and how it will help their business and also how it will develop as a whole agriculture scenario of Meghalaya. This meeting was held to address all of these issues and also to make the people of Meghalaya aware of IFFCO's basket of products, especially about the Nano fertlisers and other organic products that IFFCO has to offer i.e., Sagarika, Natural K, Biofertilisers, Biopesticides, etc.
In the meeting, Niraj Roy apprised about the IFFCO, its history of how it came to be. He then elucidated how IFFCO in association with MECOFED will start supplying fertilisers in Meghalaya to cater to the needs of Farmers. Then Anuj Kotoky elaborated on different IFFCO products and their use aspects. He appealed to all the participants to promote the Novel Nano Fertilizers and other agril-inputs of IFFCO.
Sunil Kumar then proceeded with the technical session. He explained about how conventional fertilisers have low use efficiency and their nature of degrading the soil and environment and also affecting human health. He illustrated that IFFCO has been working to address this problem and has come up with a novel solution to reduce the use of such fertilisers and replace it with Nano Fertilizers. He further explained the specifications and its aspects to the participants who were very eager to know about the Nano fertilisers. He also elaborated on other Organic Agril inputs offered by IFFCO to the farming society. It is the need of the hour to save our soil and our environment for the sake of humankind and the Nano urea, Nano Dap can play a very important role.
He expounds on how without disturbing the ecological balance and slowly enriching the soil of Meghalaya with these kinds of novel products and other organic products can be achieved.
