Sarbanand Sonowal, Minister of Ayush, stated today that the upcoming International Day of Yoga (IDY) will not only mark a day in the calendar of cultural events but will also mark a revolution in the way we perceive and approach health and well-being.
The Minister informed at a press conference in New Delhi that preparations for the International Day of Yoga are well underway. He went on to say that by commemorating this day, we hope to accelerate the adoption of traditional practices and remind the world of their benefits for the mind, body, and soul.
According to the Ayush Minister, this year's theme considers the world's geopolitical dilemmas and seeks to help everyone channel their altruistic and empathetic selves.
The Ayush Minister also stated that the International Day of Yoga, which falls in the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, will be observed in 75 iconic locations across the country. He also stated that the day would feature the innovative 'Guardian Ring' programme, which will stream all events organized by Indian missions around the world, beginning in the east and moving westward with the Sun's movement across 16 time zones. Around 80 countries will take part in the one-of-a-kind 'relay' programme.
