
The 23rd Institute Management Committee (IMC) meeting of the ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER) was successfully held on May 23, 2025 at the institute’s premises. The meeting saw participation from prominent agricultural scientists, administrators, and policymakers.
The meeting was graced by eminent dignitaries including Dr. P.S. Pandey, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), Samastipur; Dr. S.S. Rathore, Head of Agronomy, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI); Dr. Monobrullah, Principal Scientist, ATARI, Patna; and Heads of Departments of the institute such as Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya, Dr. Kamal Sarma, Dr. A.K. Chaudhary, and Dr. Ujjwal Kumar.
Also present were Rajesh Sahay, Director (Finance), ICAR Headquarters, New Delhi; and administrative officers of the institute including Pushpanayak, CAO; Vipul Raj, AO; and Rajat Kumar Das, FAO. Several experts also joined the meeting virtually, including Dr. A. Velamgur, ADG (NRM); Dr. S. Ghatak, Head (Animal Science), ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Regions; and Dr. K.P. Mohapatra, Principal Scientist, NBPGR, New Delhi.
A major highlight of the event was the presence of Dr. Punyavrat Suvimalendu Pandey, Vice Chancellor of Dr. RPCAU, Pusa, Samastipur. During his visit, Dr. Pandey toured various research facilities, interacted with scientists and staff, and appreciated the institute’s research efforts.
He emphasized the need for closer institutional collaboration between Dr. RPCAU and ICAR-RCER to jointly develop advanced technologies that directly benefit farmers and other stakeholders in the eastern region.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anup Das, Director of ICAR-RCER, said, “It was a privilege to host Dr. P.S. Pandey on his visit to ICAR-RCER. His presence at today’s IMC meeting not only enriched our deliberations but also laid the foundation for a stronger partnership between two premier institutions committed to agricultural transformation in Bihar and beyond.”
Dr. Das added, “We are optimistic about enhanced cooperation in academic, research, and field-level interventions in the coming years.” He also briefed Dr. Pandey on the institute's research highlights and ongoing outreach activities.
During the event, an extension folder on weed management was also released by the dignitaries. The meeting began with a formal welcome by Vipul Raj, Member Secretary, IMC, who extended warm greetings to all participating members and stakeholders.
All agenda items were thoroughly discussed, and members provided necessary and constructive suggestions.
The meeting concluded with strategic discussions on capacity building, future projects, and resource optimization to fulfill the institute’s research mandate. The proceedings ended with a Vote of Thanks given by Pushpanayak, CAO.
