ICAR-National Research Centre on Camel (NRCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khetarpal Industries, Village Moondsar, Bikaner, for the transfer of technology to produce ice cream made from female camel milk. Dr. R.K. Sawal, Director of NRCC, and Munni Ram Chaudhary, Proprietor of Khetarpal Industries, signed the MoU.
Dr. Sawal highlighted the growing popularity of female camel milk due to its medicinal properties. He highlighted that camel milk is effective in managing various diseases, including diabetes, tuberculosis, and autism. This has sparked interest among young entrepreneurs eager to explore camel milk-related ventures. He further noted that the ice cream would not only be a delicious treat but would also provide essential fatty acids that promote healthy skin, muscles, and heart function.
Chaudhary expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that his company plans to initially launch sugar-free camel milk ice cream in the villages and local towns of Bikaner to boost its appeal. He believes that this initiative will pave the way for the wider acceptance of camel milk products.
Dr. Yogesh Kumar, In-Charge of the Camel Dairy Technology and Processing Unit, encouraged camel breeders, farmers, NGOs, entrepreneurs, and dairy agencies to reach out to NRCC for detailed information on the technology transfer process. This development marks a significant step in the commercialization of camel milk products and opens new opportunities for the dairy industry in the region.
