The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) - Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), based in Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh conducted a three-day training programme from March 13-15, 2024. It focused on rearing indigenous cattle and producing clean A2 milk. Sponsored by Kamdhenu Abhiyan, Shahjahanpur, the event aimed to explore Internet of Things (IoT) integration in micro-dairy businesses. The programme began on March 13, 2024, with the welcome address of chief guest Dr Rupasi Tiwari, Joint Director of Extension Education, to the 17 actively engaged farmers. Dr. Tiwari presented an overview of the importance of indigenous cow production and discussed the potential applications of IoT in micro-dairy operations.
Over three days, the programme comprised 12 lectures covering a wide array of topics crucial to indigenous cattle rearing and clean A2 milk production. These included discussions on housing, selection, and procurement of indigenous cattle, as well as balanced feeding techniques and reproductive health issues. Additionally, the potential applications of IoT in micro-dairy business were thoroughly explored.
In addition to lectures, the participants were treated to exposure visits to various facilities including the IVRI cattle farm, KVK Farm, green fodder fields, and a Vermicompost unit. These visits provided practical insights into efficient farming practices and enhanced the learning experience.
Leaders Emphasize ICT Integration and Farmer Empowerment
The training programme concluded with a valedictory session held at the ATIC committee room of ICAR-IVRI. Dr. Triveni Dutt, Director cum Vice Chancellor of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Dutt inspired the farmers with insights into cattle rearing and milk processing, emphasizing the various services offered by the institute to support farmers.
Dr. Rupasi Tiwari, once again, emphasized the importance of utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in cattle rearing for sustainable livelihoods. Certificates were distributed to the participants as a recognition of their active engagement and successful completion of the training programme. The event was concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shruti, the coordinator of the training programme.
By incorporating modern techniques such as IoT, the programme aimed to empower farmers with tools for improved efficiency and sustainability in their dairy businesses. Such initiatives play a vital role in promoting agricultural advancements and fostering rural development.
