3 Student Internship vacancies in SERB-DST sponsored projects have been declared by the Division of Genetics, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, for a term of 2 months only, each with a fixed emolument of Rs.5000/- per month.
The following is the SERB-DST funded programs and qualifications for the three Student Intern positions:
Program 1:
Fine mapping of a novel leaf rust resistance gene in T. repens. militinae derivative ‘TMD 11-5' (1 position): Those seeking a Master's degree in Life Sciences/ Agriculture with a specialty in Genetics / Plant Breeding / Genetics and Plant Breeding / Biotechnology and a minimum of 60% in 10th, 12th, and Graduate school. Fine mapping of novel leaf rust resistance gene in T. militinae derivative ‘TMD 11-5’ (1 position). Experience with molecular markers and computer capabilities are desirable.
Program 2:
Using RNA-Seq and Genotyping-by-Sequencing methods, we are unraveling the candidate genomic regions controlling MYMIV tolerance and extra-earliness traits in mungbean. Those seeking a Master's degree in Life Sciences or Agriculture with a specialty in Genetics or Plant Farming or Genetics and Plant Breeding or Biotechnology or Microbiology or Pathology and 60% scores in 10th, 12th, and Graduate school. Experience of RNA sequencing and genotyping by sequencing methods is favored.
Program 3:
Utilization of chickpea germplasm to identify gene(s)/QTL for nodulation through association mapping. Students seeking a Master's degree in Life Sciences/ Agriculture with a specialty in Genetics / Plant Breeding / Genetics and Plant Breeding / Biotechnology/Microbiology/ Agronomy and having earned 60 percent or more in their 10th, 12th, and Graduation stages. Experience with nodulation characteristics and molecular markers is favored.

Selection:
Shortlisted students will be contacted for an online interview on March 31, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m. Once chosen, the student must have a No Objection Certificate from their current institute in order to participate in Lab practices for two months.
