
In a significant effort to promote millet consumption, the ICAR–Indian Institute of Millets Research (ICAR-IIMR) in Hyderabad has partnered with Heartyculture Natural Products, an initiative of the Heartfulness Institute. This collaboration aims to introduce millet-based value-added products to the mainstream market.
On April 24, 2025, both organizations signed a Memorandum of Agreement to license six innovative millet-based products. These products include Sorghum Almond Cookies, Sorghum Cashew Cookies, Sorghum Chocolate Chip Cookies, Finger Millet Energy Bars, Sorghum Instant Idli Mix, and Sorghum Puffs.
The official launch occurred during the Heartfulness Day celebrations, attended by Pujya Shri Daaji, the spiritual guide and President of the Shri Ram Chandra Mission. Senior officials from ICAR, including Dr. R. C. Agrawal and Dr. C. Tara Satyavathi, were also present at the event.
Heartyculture Natural Products, which operates from ICAR-IIMR’s Nutrihub, has begun commercial production at the institute’s Common Facility Centre. The newly launched products were available for purchase during the event and received an enthusiastic response from attendees.
This initiative supports India's broader objective of encouraging millet consumption as part of a healthy diet and sustainable agriculture.
