Krishi Udyami Vikas Chamber in association with Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni and The Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd organized Progressive Agri Leadership Summit 2021. In this summit over 43 awards were given under different categories.
These awards were given especially to recognize and motivate the efforts of various agriculture stakeholders in the northern states, who are working continuously and relentlessly for the achievement of the sustainable agriculture development.
The major categories included Progressive states, Best Educational Organizations, Corporates from the agriculture and allied sectors, Farmer Producer Organizations, etc.
Krishi Bhaivshay Ratan Puraskar was given to ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes.
A highly pedigreed breeding herd of Murrah is established at main campus in Hisar and that of Nili-Ravi buffaloes at sub-campus Nabha.
India is considered as the home tract of some of the best buffalo breeds and one among them is Murrah Buffalo. The buffalo cows of this breed are one of the most efficient milk and butter fat producers in India. Butterfat content is 7% Average lactation yield is vary from 1500-2500 kg the average milk yield is 6.8 kg/day. While a few individual animals yield much as 19.1 kg/day. Age at first calving is 45-50 months and inter calving period is 450-500 days.
About ICAR- Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (CIRB):
Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (CIRB) was established in the year 1985 and started functioning from 1 February, 1985. A sub-campus was later added in December,1987 at Bir Dosanjh, Nabha, District Patiala, Punjab.
Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (CIRB ) carries out research on various aspects of buffalo improvement including conservation, improvement and propagation of germplasm, development of optimum rations and feeding systems for different categories of buffaloes, enhancement of reproductive efficiency, health management practices for augmenting milk, meat and draught performance of the species.
The institute is aiming to improve buffaloes through identification, conservation and propagation of elite germplasm having high efficiency of reproduction and nutrient utilization for sustainable production and commercialization.
