ICAR-ATARI Hosts Workshop with KVKs in Arunachal Pradesh to Enhance Agricultural Practices

The ICAR-ATARI in collaboration with KVKs, organized a workshop in Arunachal Pradesh to refine annual action plans and promote innovative farming practices tailored to the region's needs.

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VI, Guwahati, along with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), East Siang, and the College of Horticulture & Forestry, CAU, Pasighat, teamed up to organize a workshop with the aim of improving agricultural practices and technology adoption in Arunachal Pradesh. This workshop, centered around refining the Annual Action Plan for KVKs across Arunachal Pradesh, aimed to directly benefit the farming community while ensuring the customization of technologies to suit the specific needs of each district.

Key stakeholders joined at the workshop, with a collective focus on optimizing strategies for agricultural development in the region. Dr. Kadirvel Govindasamy, Director of ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati, underscored the importance of establishing demonstration units in respective areas before launching on field trials. He urged scientists to harness cutting-edge technologies like precision farming, artificial intelligence, and drone technology to boost support for farmers effectively.

One of the significant highlights of the event was the symbolic Jubilee Torch rally initiated by ICAR-KVK East Siang, signifying a beacon of progress and innovation in agricultural practices.

The workshop saw the participation of notable figures including Nawang Lobsang, Director of the Department of Horticulture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Dani Yubbe, Joint Director of Agriculture, Tana Teti, Deputy Director of Plant Protection, Mark Boje, Deputy Director of Marketing, and Ms. Barbie Taggu, Agriculture Development Officer, all representing the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Their presence highlighted the commitment of the government towards agricultural advancement in the state.

The workshop facilitated productive dialogues, idea sharing, and the development of workable plans with the goal of improving Arunachal Pradesh's agricultural environment.
