The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi as the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. Dr. Chaturvedi, a 1989 batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Cadre, succeeds Manoj Ahuja, who has been repatriated to his cadre as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Odisha.
Prior to this, Dr. Chaturvedi served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training. His career has been marked by significant contributions to the agricultural sector and rural development. As the Agriculture Production Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Chaturvedi has been instrumental in formulating and implementing policies to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability. His efforts have had a direct impact on the livelihoods of millions of farmers in the state, bolstering economic development in Uttar Pradesh.
In other appointments, Chandra Sekhar Kumar, a 1992 batch IAS officer of the Odisha Cadre, has been appointed as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Additionally, Tanmay Kumar, a 1993 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan Cadre, has been appointed as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.
These appointments reflect the government's ongoing commitment to strengthening the administration and promoting sustainable development across various sectors.
