ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, has launched a week-long Agripreneurship Development Program (ADP) to support young innovators and startups in the food processing sector.
Organised by Zonal Technology Management & Business Planning and Development (ZTM & BPD) Unit in collaboration with Division of Food Science & Post-Harvest Technology (FS & PHT), training is being held from September 8 to 13 on the theme “Recent Avenues in Food Processing for Agritech Startups.”
The inaugural session took place on Monday at the FS & PHT division, with IARI Director Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao attending as Chief Guest. Addressing participants, he highlighted the growing demand for value-added food products and stressed the need to adopt sustainable and scalable technologies.
He said such training platforms not only build skills but also create vital opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture. Dr. Rao further urged startups to explore IARI’s incubation centre, Pusa Krishi, which offers financial and technical support for agri-business ventures.
The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Principal Scientist and Head of FS & PHT, and also featured the release of a manual titled “Recent Avenues in Food Processing for Agritech Startups,” providing participants with a detailed guide to the training.
Over six days, the ADP will cover key areas such as Good Manufacturing Practices, FSSAI compliance, quality standards, the use of artificial intelligence in food processing, and the licensing and certification process.
The program aims to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to help them successfully launch or scale their agritech ventures.
