Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is one of the national missions whose primary concern is to provide access to different financial services including Insurance, Pension, Remittance, Credit, Banking Savings & Deposit Accounts in an affordable manner.

Recently, the central government has also added a clause for minor children. Applicants can now also apply for bank accounts for their children over the age of 10. To this end, applicants can go to the online link of any bank branch or to the online website of the post office to submit their application. In addition, candidate can apply either offline or online.
Parents or guardian of the child can operate the account of children. As children are small so their account can be opened by their parents but at the same time all required documents are mandatory for applying under the scheme. The guardian or parents on their behalf would be required to submit their documents. When the child will attain an age of 18 years, the bank will ask for the identity proof of child after which the account will be transferred to the child after the submission of the documents.

Through this you will come to the homepage of the official portal. Here you can go through an Application form.

After that you will see that Account Opening Form link has been made available here for citizens.

From here you can download the application form or can take hard copy, if it is required.

Fill the required details, asked in the form.

After that you are required to attach all the necessary documents for registration.

Then submit your form with documents in the preferred bank.

Then complete all the remaining formalities which have been asked by the bank official.

Benefits of Jan Dhan Yojana:

It is not mandatory for the account holders to maintain any minimum balance under the mentioned scheme. But if you want to avail yourself the cheque facility of the bank, then in that case you are required to maintain the minimum balance in your bank account.

An overdraft facility would also be made available if the account holder is able to maintain the bank account in a good manner for around six months.

Account holder can also avail himself access to the accidental insurance cover of around INR 1 Lakh as per the latest RuPay scheme

The option of Direct Benefit Transfer is available for the person who is beneficiary of some government-based scheme.

A single account in a particular household can enjoy an overdraft facility of INR 5,000.
