PAN is a 10-digit unique alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department. It is issued in the form of a laminated plastic card for safety purpose.
Similarly, Aadhaar number is a 12-digit number issued by the UIDAI to people as an identity proof.
While your address is not visible on the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, it is on the Income Tax department's database, which issues the document. On the card, you can only see your name, father's/ mother's name, date of birth, and PAN card number. However, when you applied for a PAN card, you gave the income tax department all of your information, including your residence address.
The income tax department uses data from the PAN card to pre-fill some elements in the ITR forms while filing income tax returns (ITR). To minimise inconsistencies in the department's records, keep them up to date so that you receive all letters or notices at your current address.
In certain situations, if a person wants to change his/her residence address on the PAN card, they can now do so from home using Aadhaar. To make things easier, here are a few ways to change your PAN card address.
