Honey Traceability portal with blockchain Technology was launched by Hon"ble Agriculture Minister, and also Honey Corners across the country setup by NAFED. Hope this will drastically reduce if not totally end the Adulteration of Honey and give a platform for our Beekeepers to market their products through Honey corners after Branding.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Food Processing Industries, Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the honey (sweet) revolution will be fast moving across the country. He emphasized on the several efforts of the Central Government, being created for the farmers in our Country. The Prime Ministers concern to make farmers self-reliant is to be given its due recognition and appreciation in all forms said the Union Minister. Tomar said this while inaugurating honey projects including "Madhu Kranti Portal” and “Honey Corner “at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi on 7April 2021.
Tomar said that by increasing the production of honey, exports, and employment can be increased, including poverty alleviation. Through bee-keeping, fisheries and animal husbandry, landless farmers could find means to live a sustainable livelihood in the villages. Nafed commanded the marketing of honey, which is an auspicious sign said the Minister. Production capacity in the country is more than possible, but quality should also be taken care of said, the Minister.
He said " Honey Revolution Portal "will bring in transparency. The ministry has set standards in the recent past, which has improved the situation considerably. He said that there should be an awareness campaign to involve small beekeepers in the Farmers Producer Organization (FPO), as well as a program to train them.
The " Madhu Kranti Portal " is an initiative of the National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission. Regional laboratories are also being developed. For the overall promotion and development of scientific beekeeping and "Sweet Revolution a self-reliant India package under 500 million rupees were allocated in 2019 itself.We hope all these would jointly help in creating sustainable livelihoods.
