Weather India: According to the weather department, there will be heavy rainfall in Southern India for the next five days due to Northeast Monsoon. The air quality in the National Capital improved significantly on 17 November 2019 (Sunday) because of strong winds but continued to remain in the "poor" category. Parts of Himachal Pradesh witnessed fresh snowfall yesterday, disrupting normal life.
Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu for the next few days. Sources said the nonstop rains since Saturday evening has led to landslides & uprooting of trees on the Coonoor-Mettupalayam Highway. Heavy showers caused a flash-flood in a river. They said autorickshaw, cars & two-wheelers parked in the residential areas were swept away in the floodwaters that entered several shops & houses in low-lying areas.
In the meantime, there will be scattered rainfall and thunderstorms over Kerala. Isolated showers is also possible over Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
On the other hand, a cyclonic circulation is lying over North Eastern India. The cyclonic circulation will bring rainfall or snowfall and thunderstorms over Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Also there will be rainfall in Assam & Meghalaya today and tomorrow, and then gradually weaken.
A Western Disturbance is located over Iran and it is moving eastward. Due to this, there will be scattered to fairly widespread snowfall or rainfall and thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh & some parts of Uttarakhand this week.
Places that will remain dry or without any rainfall are Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab and Delhi.
High surface winds & boundary layer winds contributed to a significant improvement in the national capital's air quality today morning as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi stood at the "Poor" category in comparison to Sunday's "Very Poor" category. Also, temperature in Delhi and entire North India will drop in the days to come.
