Due to the extending cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan & adjoining Pakistan, fairly widespread to heavy rainfall/snow along with thunderstorm, hailstorm and lightning are likely to take place at isolated places over Western Himalayan region during 12th-13th December. The weather department has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Punjab and Haryana during the same period. On the other hand, isolated thunderstorm accompanied by hail and lightning is also likely over plains of northwest India along with parts of central India from 12-13th December, says the latest weather forecast. Strong surface winds (wind speed reaching 25-35 kmph) likely to hover over Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh during 12th-13th December.
Weather in Delhi
The weather department has already forecasted light to heavy shower over the Delhi-NCR region along with thunderstorm and lightning from 12th-13th December. The temperature is likely to drop to a single-digit after the rain across the Northern region. Moreover, the Delhi air again turned polluted reported AQI at 967 at 9 AM on Wednesday which falls under the very hazardous category.
“The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-tropospheric levels lies over Afghanistan & neighborhood. Under its influence, an induced cyclonic circulation is likely to form over southwest Rajasthan & adjoining Pakistan during the next 24 hours. Fairly widespread to widespread precipitation with heavy rainfall/snow at isolated to few places along with thunderstorm, hailstorm and lightning very likely over the Western Himalayan region from 12th-13th December. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Punjab and Haryana during the same period”, says the weather department on its morning bulletin.
Maximum temperatures were reported above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Konkan & Goa; Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Jharkhand, and Odisha while minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.0°C or more) at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
