Several parts of India are currently experiencing intense heat as a strong heatwave grips regions across the north, west, and central parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for rising temperatures and warm nights in many areas, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.

On April 9, Rajasthan witnessed severe heatwave conditions in some areas, with temperatures rising well above normal. The IMD has also forecast heatwave conditions in Rajasthan on April 10, 14, and 15. States like Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi are also expected to face similar weather on these days. Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat are likely to remain hot on April 9 and 10.

In Delhi, the heat has intensified, with maximum temperatures reaching between 40 and 42°C. Minimum temperatures have also remained high, between 24 and 26°C, around 6°C above normal. The city experienced a rise of up to 3°C in the minimum temperature and 1°C in the maximum temperature over the past 24 hours. Clear skies and light southeast winds have added to the discomfort.

Warm night conditions are also being reported in several regions including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, and parts of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, coastal and southern areas like Konkan, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry are facing hot and humid weather.

However, there may be some relief ahead for residents in Delhi-NCR. From April 10 onwards, the weather is expected to become cloudy with chances of very light rain or drizzle. Thunderstorms and strong winds, gusting up to 50 kmph, may also occur on April 10 and 11, helping bring down temperatures slightly.

By April 12, the maximum temperature in Delhi may drop to 35–37°C, while the minimum may fall to around 18–20°C. The IMD has advised people to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions to stay safe during this extreme weather.
