Haryana's Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, has announced the closure of all private and government schools in the state today, i.e., August 16, 2023, in observance of the 77th Independence Day celebrations.
The declaration was made during a state-level Independence Day event and was subsequently shared on Khattar's official Twitter account. In his statement, Khattar expressed his belief that by the year 2047, Haryana would outshine all other states in terms of developmental progress.
During the event, Khattar emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Haryana, urging them to put aside social, religious, and communal differences in favour of maintaining harmony. He stressed that the state's residents should be seen as a collective family, underscoring the commitment of his administration to serve every Haryanvi citizen and ensure equitable development across all areas.
Furthermore, as a recent outcome of a tragic incident involving the suicide of a girl student in a school in Uttar Pradesh, all schools in the state have been temporarily shut down for the day.
