In a major relief to horticulture farmers, the Haryana government has extended the last date to apply for crop insurance under the Mukhya Mantri Bagwani Bima Yojana (MBBY). Initially set for May 31, the new deadline has now been pushed to July 31, giving farmers more time to register and protect their crops against losses from extreme weather and natural calamities.
Under the scheme, farmers are required to pay just 2.5% of the total insurance premium to enroll. The state government will bear the remaining cost, making this an affordable safety net for those engaged in vegetable, fruit, and spice cultivation.
What is the Mukhya Mantri Bagwani Bima Yojana?
MBBY aims to compensate farmers for crop losses due to adverse weather conditions such as hailstorms, temperature extremes, frost, floods, storms, and fires. It covers a wide variety of horticulture crops and ensures timely financial aid in the event of damage.
