Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala announced on Saturday that the state government has decided to appoint a 'kshatipurti sahayak' to help revenue officials in analysing agricultural loss due to the state's adverse weather.
According to Chautala, farmers have recorded crop loss of around 16.83 lakh acres on the kshatipurti portal so far, while the special girdawari (field survey) for crop damage assessment is ongoing.
The deputy chief minister told the reporters here that unseasonal rainfall, hailstorms and high-velocity winds caused crop damage in numerous districts of the state in February and March.
He stated that the government has decided to recruit a 'kshatipurti sahayak,' who will be a villager, to assist 'patwaris' (revenue officers) in assessing crop damage caused by severe weather.
A 'kshatipurti sahayak' will conduct a survey of the 500-acre block, he said. Furthermore, the deputy chief minister stated that farmers in the districts of Charkhi Dadri, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, and Sonipat had reported crop losses of over one lakh acres.
In terms of GST collection, Chautala stated that the state collected Rs 33,527 crore during the fiscal year 2022-23, placing it fourth after Dadra Nagar Haveli, Sikkim, and Goa. He also stated that the state got Rs 9,687 crore from excise in the previous fiscal year.
However, he stated that due to Punjab's excise policy, which decreased its charges, some liquor vends in the state's border areas had reported losses.
When asked about some BJP officials' suggestions that the party run its own elections next year, Chautala said he has seen concerns voiced about the partnership since the inception of the coalition government in 2019.
