Around 1.6 lakh post offices throughout the country will sell the Indian National Flag in 20 crore houses, starting from August 1. This project has been started in light of India's upcoming 75th Independence Day celebration.
According to the government, all post offices nationwide will be open every day up until August 15 in order to help with the sale and distribution of national flags as part of the "Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign."
Every post office will have at least one counter open on Sunday, August 9 (Muharram), and August 14 (Sunday) as per an official announcement.
Indian Flag Price at Post Office
Three sizes of Tricolours will be offered, with a 20 by 30-inch flag being the largest. The flag would cost Rs 25. Two additional smaller flags will be available for purchase for Rs 18 and Rs 9 respectively.
In an effort to sell the tricolor to as many people as possible, other flag manufacturers will do so as well, including self-help groups, Khadi units, and participants in the small and medium business sectors.
The flag code was changed by the Union Home Ministry last week, allowing every citizen to display the flag in their house day and night. The modification also allowed for the use of machine-produced national flags made of polyester, cotton, wool, silk, and Khaki bunting material, as opposed to the previous practice of only utilizing hand-woven or hand-spun flags.
The government is expecting 60% of the 28 crore households to display the tricolor. The "Har Ghar Tiranga" camping was started by the Union Government, which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a celebration of the Indian National Flag.
Between August 13 and August 15, it was planned to assure a massive display of the flag in 20 crore homes. In addition, the government has developed a website where users can upload selfies with the Tricolor at their residences.
