Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the revised GST rates on agricultural machinery will provide direct financial relief to farmers across the country.

During a 'Gram Chaupal' held at Dumri Khurd village in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on October 18, 2025, Chouhan interacted with rural communities, farmers, Self Help Group members, and Panchayat representatives who gathered in large numbers.

Union Minister highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Central and Uttar Pradesh governments aimed at boosting agricultural productivity. "The government is continuously taking steps to increase production, provide better seeds, and reduce costs for our farming community," Chouhan said during the interactive session.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, GST rates on agricultural machinery have been slashed from 12% and 18% to just 5%, offering substantial financial benefits to farmers who invest in modern equipment.

Chouhan assured farmers of compensation under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for any crop losses. He also gathered feedback on crucial issues including major crops cultivated, production costs, and the necessity for local food shops in rural areas.

The Minister informed attendees about the 'Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission', an initiative designed to increase lentil and gram production. He emphasized that the Central Government has raised the Minimum Support Price for Rabi crops this year, including wheat, gram, lentil, and mustard, which will significantly benefit farmers.

Encouraging agricultural diversification, Chouhan urged farmers to explore animal husbandry, fisheries, beekeeping, and horticulture alongside traditional farming. He also shared information about government vaccination schemes for livestock.

The 'Gram Chaupal' provided a platform for farmers and community members to voice their concerns and suggestions directly to the Union Minister. Concluding the programme, Chouhan appealed for collective cooperation in achieving rural development and agricultural prosperity across the nation.
