The state government has set a week’s deadline for all the district collectors to fulfil the announcement made for the allotment of five thousand dairy booths in the state. For the same, the directorate of local bodies has issued a notice to complete the allotment process by March 20.
The government allocated 5,000 dairy booths in the state in its budget for 2022–2023. All of the state's metropolitan authorities had advertised for applicants by designating locations for dairy stalls in their individual neighborhoods.
A maximum number of dairy booths could be allocated, including 1,144 in the Jaipur Municipal Corporation region. An official stated, "In December 2021, applications were called for the allocation of 1,144 booths in the Greater and Historic Area of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. In both municipal corporations, 35,000 applications were received in total. But the procedure is not yet finished.”
According to sources, the procedure was accelerated after BJP Member Kalicharan Saraf questioned these allocations in the state assembly last month. Ten of these applications, according to cabinet minister Ramlal Jat, have been granted. The minister also promised that steps will be taken to resolve the situation quickly. The allotment was supposed to be finished by December 31, but the local bodies had already missed the deadline.
The DLB issued an order in November 2022 requiring all civic body executives (or commissioners) to finish the allotment process by December 31. For this, a special committee was also constituted in the civic bodies last year, but it has been more than 4 months since the instructions were issued.
According to sources, the new deadline will continue to be difficult. Nonetheless, instructions have been given to get this job done on priority. According to the directions made by the LSG secretary, collectors have until March 20 to submit their claims.
