After the cabinet meeting, Home Minister Narottam Mishra told reporters that the council of ministers approved the formation of three tehsils at Chhaigaon Makhan in Khandwa district, Bargawan in Singrauli district, and Soytkala in Agar-Malwa district.
The state cabinet also sanctioned the construction of a new 660 Megawatt expansion unit at the Amarkantak Thermal Power Plant in Chachai at a cost of Rs 4665.87 crore. "This project has been approved with the future energy requirement in the state in mind," Narottam Mishra remarked.
According to a press statement, the unit will be built by a joint venture between MP Power Generating Company Ltd and SECL (South Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited). The financial institutions will give 70% of the loan, SECL will provide 15% through share capital, and the state government will pay the remaining 15% from the budget allotted to the MP Power Generating Company between 2022-23 and 2028-29. The unit is expected to begin commercial production in 2027-28.
Youth farmers in the state will now be trained to operate agricultural drones following the. The "Skill Development Plan" for farm mechanization was authorized by Cabinet.
The drone school, which is being developed for farm mechanization, will provide farmers with 10-day instruction under the scheme. In addition, during the following three years, 6,000 teenagers will be trained to handle major agricultural machinery.
"This will assist develop job prospects," added the home minister. The programme has been approved for Rs 22.73 crore. The cabinet also approved the Chentikheda big irrigation project in Sheopur district, which will cost Rs 539 crore and cover an irrigation area of 15,300 hectares.
The irrigation project will help 11,118 hectares of 16 villages in the Vijaypur development block and 4,112 hectares of 16 villages in the Sabalgarh development block, according to the government.
In another move, the cabinet sanctioned the establishment of a new agricultural college under the Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University in Panna district. During the next three years, the cabinet approved non-recurring expenditure of Rs 51.90 crore and recurring expenditure of Rs 31.20 crore.
