Government Announces Diesel Subsidy & Many Other Financial Aids in This State; Details Inside

N.Rangaswamy, the chief minister of Puducherry, on Tuesday unveiled several financial grants for its citizens. He made the announcements in front of the State Legislative Assembly.

The financial assistance includes Medical insurance schemes that will be given to those above the poverty line or who have yellow family cards, increasing the death grant to Rs. 1 lakh from Rs. 50,000.

In the territorial assembly on Monday, the chief minister of Puducherry said that those who are 100 years or above that will be extended monthly aid of Rs. 7,000.

The minister said that there are only 7 people who have turned 100 and they will get assistance through the Department of Women & Child Development which is now handling the implementation of old age pension for the aged persons.

It is important to mention that the announcement comes after a report stated that Puducherry had joined the list of states and Union territories that included Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Tripura, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, and Lakshadweep in having zero cases of farmer & agricultural laborer suicides.

List of Announcements Made by Puducherry Government

Those who are above the poverty line will be eligible for medical insurance schemes (yellow family card)

  • In each Assembly constituency, a government officer will be selected.

  • Monthly payments of Rs.1000 will be given to children with genetic abnormalities.

  • The fisherman will receive a diesel subsidy of Rs.12 per litre.

  • Through the Building Welfare Board, the marriage allowance for construction workers will increase from 7,000 to 15,000 dollars.

  • The death grant will range from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh.

  • The amount of assistance provided to senior adults who are 95 Years and 100 years has increased from 3,500 to 4,000 every month.

Meanwhile, a report from India's Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for the year ended March 2020 that Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy presented on the House floor on Monday said that the Union Territory's Electricity Department had failed to maintain a good balance of interests between power utilities and consumers.
