On Wednesday, Telangana inaugurated the COVID-19 vaccination program for children aged 12 to 14. In this age category, there are an estimated 17.23 lakh beneficiaries in the state, including 1.97 lakh in Hyderabad.
The vaccine being administered is Corbevax manufactured by city-based Biological E. Limited.
T. Harish Rao, Minister of Health, began the inoculation program at the Khairatabad Community Health Centre (CHC). On the occasion, the 50-bed CHC was also inaugurated. Mahima Datla, Biological E's managing director, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Khairtabad MLA Danam Nagender, and senior officials from the Health Department were present.
Harish Rao emphasized the importance of Hyderabad as a worldwide vaccination center. He also stated that 20,000 jobs in the Health Department will be filled permanently up on a permanent basis. Doctors, staff nurses, Auxiliary Nursing Midwives, and lab technicians are among the positions offered. Contract employees' jobs would be regularized, he stressed.
Those who provided medical assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic were guaranteed weightage in recruiting.
