According to Uttarakhand's chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government would soon introduce the Kisan Protsahan Yojana (KPY). This programme would be similar to the Central government's PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which gives each farmer Rs 2,000 over the course of three months.
At a presentation held by the cooperatives department at his camp office on Sunday, the CM made this big announcement. Although the CM withheld certain information on the KPY, he did state that one of the government's top aims is to double farmer income.
He also initiated the Charba unit to prepare Total Mix Ration (TMR) for the cattle and officially launched the computerization of 108 Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS).
Speaking at the event, the CM expressed his happiness that the MPACS, the lowest unit of cooperative credit, had been computerized. He claimed that when it comes to computerizing MPACS, Uttarakhand has emerged as a national leader. The CM claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently pushed for the computerization and digitization of all government agencies in order to boost productivity and reduce corruption.
Speaking during the event, the cooperative minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the department has worked very quickly over the last two years to computerize all MPACS. The department also handled the process of gathering and digitizing the data of the 13 lakh members.
He stated that Uttarakhand has made 108 MPACS available online, making it the first state to do so and that the Union government recently deployed a team to observe Uttarakhand's efforts in computerizing the MPACS. He said that the cooperative department has given 6.41 lakh recipients an interest-free loan totaling more than Rs 3700 crore. According to Rawat, cooperative banks' non-performing assets (NPA) have fallen and have come down.
Munna Singh Chauhan, a Vikasnagar MLA, referred to the MGKY as a revolutionary program and claimed that the fact that there is a greater demand than supply for silage indicates the program's success.
In addition to the secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram and VVRC Purushottam, cooperative department officers, as well as other farmers and beneficiaries, were present.
