Sowing of Rabi season crops has started and wheat sowing is going on in faster pace across North India. Farmers use fertilizers for good wheat production. Fertilizers not only provide nutrients to the soil and increase crop growth, but also provide protection to the farmers.
Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), the world’s largest fertilizer co-operative body, is also providing insurance coverage on fertilizer packet. On every bag of IFFCO fertilizer, “Khaad to Khaad Beema bhi Saath” is written.

This insurance premium is fully paid by IFFCO.
Brijveer Singh also mentioned that, under the Accidental Insurance, affected families are paid Rs. 1 Lakh in case of accidental death. This insurance amount is directly transferred to the account of the affected family.
In case of two organs damaged in the accident, a maximum sum of Rs.50,000 is paid on the basis of Rs. 2000 per fertilizer bag.
And in case of one organ damaged in an accident, insurance coverage is given at the rate of Rs. 1000 per bag.
How to Claim Accidental Insurance Coverage?
To claim for this accident insurance given by IFFCO, the affected farmer must have a receipt of fertilizer purchase. The insurance amount will be paid according to the number of fertilizer bags purchased by the farmer.
In case of death of a farmer, there must be a post-mortem report and panchnama to claim for the insurance. In case of mutilation, there should be a police report of the accident.
Reduction in the Price of Fertilizer
IFFCO has announced to reduce the maximum retail price of NP fertilizer by Rs. 50 per bag to Rs. 925. This reduction in price has come into force with immediate effect across the country.
Nitrogen and Potassium nutrients are present in the NP manure. The quantity of their ratio is written on the fertilizer bag. And now, Zinc is also being added in it. NP fertilizer is granulated. It is used at the time of sowing seeds. Due the potassium in it, both brightness and weight of the grains of the crop increases.
