Good News: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Gives Agriculture Status to Lac Farming benefiting more than 50,000 Farmers

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken an important decision in the interest of farmers cultivating lac. As per the decision, now lac farming has got the status of agriculture in Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken an important decision in the interest of farmers cultivating lac. As per the decision, now lac farming has got the status of agriculture in Chhattisgarh.  

Short Term Loan 

Under this important decision, state government will also provide short-term loan facility to farmers or groups of farmers for production and primary processing on crops including safflower, palash, plum, etc., in line with the agricultural crops.  

Order Issued on January 18  

Under this, interest subsidy will be payable on short-term agricultural loan to farmers and groups of farmers for primary processing as per agricultural crops. Regarding this, an order has been issued by the Ministry of Mahanadi Bhavan, Department of Agricultural Development and Farmers Welfare and Biotechnology on January 18, 2021.  

Directly Benefit 50000 Farmers of Chhattisgarh 

One more important thing to note is that about 50 thousand farmers in Chhattisgarh will directly be benefitted by this decision taken by the state government in the interest of farmers. Currently, the state produces 4500 tonnes of lac. Tribal and forest dwellers are engaged in its cultivation on a large scale in the state, and there are good prospects for lac cultivation.  

In addition, the decision of state government to provide the short-term agricultural loan will further boost the lac cultivation and its production. With this, the production of lac in the state may increase to 10000 tonnes.
