The central government employees have been demanding an increase in their present basic pay recommended by the 7th Pay Commission saying that it’s not enough to meet the present market scenario and it fails to put any impact on their financial position. Now, with the BJP forming the government once again at the Centre, CG employees’ hopes are high that the Narendra Modi government will consider increasing their minimum pay.
A good news in this regard is that the new Finance Minister of the country, Nirmala Sitharaman has been briefed about the 7th Pay Commission (7th CPC) recommendations and the demands of the CG employees. Hence, with this, it can be expected that the Union Minister will certainly consider the long-standing demand of the employees.
Adding to it, the government has also declared a five-fold increase in the incentives for CG employees who have got higher education degrees during their period of service. CG employees who have PhD degrees will be given Rs 30,000 under current recommendations whereas those who have a PG degree or Diploma will get an equivalent of Rs 25,000. Those with diplomas that took less than a year will get Rs 20,000 as incentive.
However, employees who pursue a Diploma of less than a year will get Rs 20,000, and who have a degree or diploma of more than three years in any subject are entitled to receive an incentive of Rs 15,000. Employees who have a degree or diploma of a three year or lesser than that, they would get an incentive of Rs 10,000.
How CG employees can claim incentive?
The employees have to submit their education qualification details and documents to their departments, so as to receive the incentive. The departments have fixed guidelines for the same.
It is to be noted that, Rajnath Singh, during his stint in the first term of the Modi government as the Home Minister, had held a discussion with officials concerned over the matter and gave a hint that the Modi government was serious and concerned about the demand of the employees. But, the general elections had crushed all hopes of the CG employees then.
Central Government employees includes, 9 lakh Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) soldiers, thousands of Indian Railway employees and employees in several other government offices that will be benefitted under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
After more than a year that the Central government employees are waiting for good news now, it’s to see if the demand of the CG employees to hike minimum pay further against 7th Pay Commission recommendation is considered by the government or not.
