In a resounding celebration of Ayurveda's global prominence, Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, extolled the virtues of the ancient healing system at the inauguration of the National Arogya Fair.
The Global Ayurveda Festival, which is being held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from December 1 to 5, is expected to enthrall audiences. It is being planned with the cooperation of the Centre for Innovation in Science & Social Action (CISSA) and is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sonowal emphasized the pivotal role of innovation and collaboration in the Ayush sector. The minister urged stakeholders to embrace the dynamic spirit driving the convergence of ancient wisdom and modern advancements.
The National Arogya Fair was inaugurated by Sonowal alongside Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, and Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ayush, accompanied by other Ministry of Ayush officials. The fair, held in conjunction with the Global Ayurveda Festival and Arogya Expo, aims to bridge the gap between traditional Ayurveda and contemporary health solutions.
Minister Sonowal urged active participation in initiatives that promote entrepreneurship in the Ayush sector, emphasizing the government's commitment to facilitating investments in Ayush ventures abroad. Recognizing the vast potential and opportunities for young entrepreneurs in the Ayush sector, he declared it a priority area identified by the Government of India.
Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, hailed the prowess of India's traditional medicine systems, particularly Ayurveda, in addressing emerging health challenges. Citing a recent NITI Aayog study, he underscored the robustness of India's traditional medical practices.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary Ayush, took center stage at the Global Ayurveda Festival, lauding the strides made in Ayurvedic education and the elevation of quality standards in India. Commending the dedicated efforts of the National Centre for Integrative Medicine (NCIM) team, Kotecha highlighted the significant impact of the National Ayush Mission on public health. He emphasized the role of the Research Council under the Ministry of Ayush in advancing scientific knowledge, conducting vital clinical trials, and promoting evidence-based practices in traditional medicine systems.
Kotecha also commended the collaborative studies undertaken by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), particularly in integrative models, showcasing the government's commitment to the holistic advancement of Ayurveda.
