Union Minister Giriraj Singh officially assumed charge of the Ministry of Textiles on June 11, 2024. Former Union Minister of Textiles, Piyush Goyal, handed over the reins to Singh in the presence of the newly appointed Minister of State, Pabitra Margherita. Rachna Shah, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, along with other senior officers, were also in attendance.
Upon taking charge, Minister Singh highlighted the significant employment opportunities within the textiles sector, noting its substantial contribution to global exports. He emphasized the industry's connection to farmers and expressed his commitment to advancing the sector under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Singh conducted a productive review meeting with Ministry of Textiles officials, engaging in crucial discussions on boosting exports, promoting sustainable practices, creating jobs, and enhancing workforce skills. Pabitra Margherita, a Rajya Sabha member elected from the Margherita legislative constituency in Assam, also assumed his role as Minister of State in the Ministry of Textiles.
Minister Piyush Goyal welcomed Margherita with a bouquet in the presence of Giriraj Singh. Secretary Rachna Shah and other senior officers were present during the occasion.
