Apart from the usual details on an identity document such as name, gender, date of birth, and address.

Aadhar also has the biometric credentials like fingerprints & iris of the person that makes it a one of its kind document. Aadhar card has many advantages; it has now become the most necessary document, unlike every other document, you don’t necessarily have to carry the physical copy of it. Even if you misplace it, you can now instantly download an e-Aadhar by just verifying your identity on the UIDAI portal.

What is an e-Aadhar?

e-Aadhar is the electronic copy of your Aadhar card. It is protected by the password and is equally valid as a physical copy of an Aadhar Card. Users can log on to UIDAI’s official website to download a copy of their own e-Aadhar card.

How to Download e-Aadhar?

e-Aadhar can be easily downloaded from the official portal of UIDAI by using your 28 digit enrollment number accompanied with your full name & a pin code or your 14 digit Aadhar number along with your details. For both methods, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number for verification. Further, you can generate a time-based one-time password to download an e-Aadhar on the official website of the mAadhar app.

Steps to Download e-Aadhar?

  • First of all, you have to visit the official website of UIDAI.

  • In My Aadhar section of the homepage, click on the “Download Aadhar” option.

  • Choose between “Aadhar Number”, “Enrollment ID” & Virtual ID as a method for e-Aadhar download.

  • Enter the OTP to verify the process.

  • Your password-protected e-Aadhar will now be downloaded on your device.
