In a recent interview and while addressing KJ Chaupal, Satish Tiwari, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Gencrest, emphasized the global importance of sustainable agriculture. Tiwari acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers, especially in India, where marginal farming often leads to unprofitable outcomes for entire families dependent on it.
Tiwari highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various sectors, including agriculture. He stressed that AI is becoming increasingly vital in fields such as medicine, security, and various other segments, likewise in agriculture also. Tiwari discussed AI's potential in disease forecasting, weed management, and pest control, indicating its promising future in agriculture and its immense benefits for farmers.
Furthermore, in line with the 2023 designation as the International Year of Millets, he encouraged farmers not to limit themselves to traditional crops like wheat, pulses, and paddy. He advised them to diversify by cultivating millets, emphasizing their advantages, including lower agricultural inputs and the potential for precision farming. By doing so, farmers can improve their yields and fetch higher prices for their produce.
