While the coronavirus has shaken the whole economy, the migrant workers are the one who has been suffering a lot amid this lockdown. The nationwide lockdown has bound the migrant labourers to go back to their native places. In such a situation, the biggest question of employment has arisen in front of the world.
Keeping this in mind, Prime Minister Modi has recently launched Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan to remove the economic and financial problems of these labourers and increase employment opportunities which will be implemented across 116 districts of 6 states. Workers will be provided employment for 125 days which will be run in mission mode. For this, the government has made a provision of 50 thousand crores.
Six States are selected for Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan Yojana
These workers, who lost their jobs due to lockdown, will be assigned work under MNREGA. The campaign which has carried out with mission mode.
PM Modi told about this campaign being carried out in mission mode, that the poor welfare employment campaign starting from Khagaria is a campaign to provide employment to migrant workers. Explain that the 6 states that have been selected for this scheme include Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand. These are the states where the maximum number of labourers have migrated during the lockdown. District wise selection has also been done in these states.
These will be necessary papers and conditions.
The citizen taking advantage of this scheme should be from the same state where the scheme is implemented.
It is also mandatory for the person to have an Aadhaar Card
A citizen getting work will also have to show his residence certificate.
Only people over 18 years of age will be given work under this scheme.
Work will be given to the workers according to their skill.
Highlights of Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan-
- Under the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan, workers will get work under MNREGA. Whose daily wage has been increased from Rs 182 to Rs 202. Under this scheme, workers will be provided employment for up to 125 days.
Under this campaign 116 districts of 6 states have been selected. These are the districts where the largest number of migrant workers have returned. These include 32 districts of Bihar, 31 districts of Uttar Pradesh, 24 districts of Madhya Pradesh, 22 districts of Rajasthan, 4 in Odisha and 3 districts of Jharkhand.
Under this campaign, workers will be provided employment in the fields of rural development, petroleum and natural gas, panchayati raj, road transport and highways, railways, new and renewable energy, mines, drinking water and sanitation, environment, border roads, telecommunications and agriculture. .
- This campaign will be run in mission mode. In which the workers working will be paid by the state government officials.
- The list of workers who have been brought back by the state government, or sent back by other means, is already with the government and based on this, the workers will be given work.
