The Indian Ministry of Agriculture is organizing a unique two-day event at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in Pusa, New Delhi, from September 9 to 10.
This event is specifically designed for the spouses of G20 leaders and aims to showcase India's progress in agricultural research and technology.
During the visit, attendees will have the opportunity to explore millet fields and attend an exhibition that focuses on the growing agri-tech startup sector. These startups are working on innovative solutions to address real-world agricultural challenges.
Additionally, there will be a culinary segment featuring millet-based dishes from each of the G20 member nations.
Notably, members of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) representing various tribal communities from across India will present food items made from millets, which are distributed throughout the country.
The Indian government plans to highlight its achievements in Research & Development (R&D) through presentations by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). These presentations will cover the latest advancements in precision farming, agricultural technology, and mechanization that are driving progress in the agricultural sector.
One special aspect of the exhibition will be interactions with women leaders who are actively involved in various aspects of the millet value chain, including farming, processing, and entrepreneurship. These women come from ten states that are leading in millet production: Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Assam. These states have implemented comprehensive plans to promote millet cultivation, processing, marketing, and consumption.
In summary, the event at IARI in New Delhi aims to provide a platform for showcasing India's agricultural innovations and fostering collaboration in the agricultural sector, with a particular focus on millet production and related technologies.
