Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is set to begin its Internship Scheme 2024 in October, offering a unique platform for students to gain practical experience in food regulation and safety administration. This program aims to equip interns with essential knowledge in various domains of food safety, including regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and international trade cooperation.
Eligibility Criteria
Students pursuing full-time undergraduate, postgraduate, or higher degrees from recognized institutions in India or abroad are eligible to apply. The fields of study include:

Sciences and Technology: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Nutrition, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Horticultural Sciences, Industrial Microbiology, Toxicology, Public Health, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Fruit & Vegetable Technology, and Food Safety & Quality Assurance.

Engineering and Law: B.E./B.Tech (3rd and 4th year) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, and related streams; Bachelor/Master of Law.
Internship Duration and Location
The internship, available on a quarterly basis throughout the year, will last for a minimum of two months and can be extended up to six months. Interns will be placed in various divisions across FSSAI headquarters, regional offices (Kolkata and Chennai), and national food laboratories in Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Raxaul, and Chennai.
Interns can work in a range of areas such as Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Legal, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Compliance, Science & Standards, Imports/Trade, International Cooperation, and Training.
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply online through the FSSAI website from September 27, 2024, with the deadline for submissions on October 4, 2024. Applicants may need to submit a brief write-up or presentation during the selection process. Shortlisted candidates will be announced in the third week of October, and their joining dates will be communicated later.
Stipend and Certification
A stipend of Rs. 10,000 will be provided to deserving interns, based on criteria such as attendance, performance, and project evaluation. Upon successful completion of the internship, interns will receive a certificate, awarded by the divisional heads at FSSAI headquarters or directors at regional offices and national laboratories.
